Dr. Sivaramakrishnan “Bala” Balachandar is the Chairman and William F. Powers Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida. His research focuses on computational fluid dynamics, large-scale simulations of complex flows, turbulence, multiphase flows, and environmental flows, utilizing UF HPC systems for extensive computation. Known for his innovative work in fluid mechanics, he has earned recognition as a leader in computational fluid science. Outside the lab, Dr. Balachandar enjoys sharing the occasional joke, reflecting his approachable and engaging personality.
