Prof. Mats Svensson, Chalmers Univ, vehicle safety & whiplash biomechanics pioneer.
Professor Mats Svensson is a Full Professor of Vehicle Safety in the Department of Mechanics and Maritime Sciences at Chalmers University of Technology, where he also serves as Head of Division. With over 30 years of expertise in injury prevention, he completed his Ph.D. on neck injury biomechanics, covering animal testing, dummy development, and seat design. He has contributed to major EU projects including Whiplash 2, ADSEAT, and SafeEV, and chaired EEVC working groups. Awarded the Håkan Frisinger Award (2016) for his pioneering work in whiplash biomechanics, he is Director of Transport Safety at Chalmers and Profile Director of Traffic Safety at SAFER.
