Dr. Debashish Bhattacharjee is Professor of Practice at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and a distinguished leader in Indian manufacturing engineering. Over a long career at Tata Steel, he built new businesses and spearheaded pioneering research, delivering breakthrough products and processes with significant commercial impact. His work spans sustainable materials technologies, primary steel decarbonisation, energy applications, and healthcare innovations such as sprayable ceramics for orthopaedic implants. A Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, he has also been honoured as a National Metallurgist by the Government of India for his outstanding contributions.
